My ISP says they have a strong privacy policy. Isn’t that enough?




Sadly, it is not. ISP privacy policies generally refer to the ISP not giving your information to marketing companies. That protects you from unsolicited advertising (which is certainly objectionable), but not from serious threats. Your ISP will divulge all of your records, including where and when you surf, any time they see a court order and even before that if they are simply requested to by any government agency. And, recently, the process of getting such as order has become much easier. Downloading a song is reason enough.
